Project story

How the project came together.

Mr Keys Ltd came to me with an existing website that no longer reflected the quality or personality of the business. The previous site had been built externally but was not performing as expected, was not fully effective across mobile devices, and did not give the business the strong local-search or conversion foundation it needed.

The brief was not simply to restyle the old website. The aim was to rebuild it properly from the ground up, creating a much brighter, cleaner and more distinctive online presence while keeping the established Mr Keys branding recognisable. The business wanted something that felt custom rather than template-driven, with movement, stronger calls to action, clearer service information and a much better experience across desktop, tablet and mobile.

A key part of the rebuild was communicating that Mr Keys is a physical vehicle-key specialist customers can actually visit. The new website therefore gives much more prominence to the Conisbrough store, opening seven days a week, same-day service availability and specialist vehicle-key expertise. The design uses the existing navy and orange branding in a much more modern way, with bold typography, strong contrast, custom layouts and interactive details throughout.

The site structure was rebuilt around the customer journey. Visitors can quickly understand the services available, explore pricing, view examples of completed work, learn more about the business and move directly into a quote or contact journey without having to search through cluttered pages.

I also rebuilt the website architecture with SEO in mind from the start. Page titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, structured data, clean routes and local service messaging were introduced to give the business a much stronger technical foundation for organic search across Conisbrough, Doncaster and wider South Yorkshire.

The header and navigation were developed as a distinctive part of the visual identity rather than using a generic website navbar. This includes the angled Mr Keys brand panel, opening-status strip, location and telephone information, a strong quote call-to-action, sticky desktop behaviour and a dedicated full-screen mobile burger-menu experience.

A bespoke gallery was also created to make real completed key work a more visual part of the website. Rather than treating the gallery as an afterthought, the page was designed around clean three-column image rows so customers can quickly see genuine examples of the business's work.

The footer was rebuilt as another conversion and trust section, with stronger navigation, service links, local business information and a final quote call-to-action. The overall project is designed to be maintainable and expandable, including support for additional house and security-key services when Mr Keys introduces them.

The result is a complete website rebuild that gives Mr Keys a much more professional digital presence while creating a stronger platform for SEO, enquiries and future service growth.
